Athens, Ga. – The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will host a conversation with artist Tristan Perich on Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
The Q&A, via Skype, will focus on Perich’s installation at the museum, “Machine Wall Drawings,” an art installation occupying a 60-foot wall that has been creating itself over a 6-month period and wrapping up in September. Perich writes code that operates the machine, but the interaction of the digital and physical elements make the work unique, introducing randomness into a tightly controlled order.
The session will also focus on Perich’s larger body of visual art and musical compositions as well as his background in math, programming, art and music.
Athens filmmaker Russell Oliver will premiere his documentary on “Machine Wall Drawings” at the event.
“Machine Wall Drawings” is on view on the museum’s Patsy Dudley Pate Balcony through Nov. 18.
