Student government shut down

The administration at Occidental College in Los Angeles pulled the plug on student government activities for the remainder of the school year in response to more than 200 complaints filed by students over the actions of student leaders. The tensions surrounding the student government stemmed from a variety of abuses, from e-mail spam to verbal harassment, which have led to more than 30 disciplinary actions against student government members. Until next year when elections will be held again, the director of student life will oversee student club and newspaper operations.
