On May 21, the UGA Marine Extension Service on Skidaway Island is hosting the inaugural Trees to Seas 5K Trail Run and Walk. The community is invited to Skidaway’s maritime forest for a 3.1-mile run or a one-mile fun run. Participants, friends and family will enjoy free admission to the university’s 10,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, free arts and crafts activities, hands-on interactions with coastal creatures and musical entertainment.
Proceeds from the event will be used to bring students from Thunderbolt Elementary Marine Science Academy, a magnet school for marine science in Chatham County, to the facility for a day of free educational programs next fall. For more information check the Web site, www.uga.edu/aquarium.
