Encyclopedia named a ‘best reference’

The New Georgia Encyclopedia, a project of the Georgia Humanities Council in partnership with the UGA Press, the Office of the Governor and the University System of Georgia/GALILEO, has been named one of the best reference sources for 2004 by the Library Journal.

The first Web-only encyclopedia about a U.S. state, NGE (www.georgiaencyclopedia.org) was listed in the journal’s Web site section as “an innovative, authoritative and colorful source of information about Georgia’s history and culture.”  When the first phase of the NGE is complete in January 2006, it will contain 1,600 articles.

Among other sites included in the Web site section are the American Psychological Association, the Educator’s Reference Desk, the World Weather Information Service and Feeding America: the Historic American Cookbook Project.
