Stanley Pogrow, a nationally recognized expert in the development of educational policies to reduce learning gaps in high-poverty schools, will speak at the College of Education April 30.
Pogrow, a research professor of educational leadership at San Francisco State University, will deliver a presentation entitled, “New Directions for Reducing the Learning Gap in High Poverty Schools: Implications of the ‘Hi-Perform School Design’ for Research and Practice,” at 4 p.m. in Room G-23 at Aderhold Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Pogrow developed the Higher Order Thinking Skills program, combining the use of Socratic dialogue, drama and technology in schools. The highly successful national reform effort for educationally disadvantaged students has been used in more than 2,600 schools in 48 states and has won many regional and national awards.
