All life insurance transactions by UGA employees will now be handled by MetLife, using the MetLife Web site, mybenefits.metlife.com/MyBenefits/ssi/commonAccess.do, or the toll-free phone number, (866) 492-6983.
Employees should no longer submit any life insurance paperwork to UGA Human Resources.
Newly hired faculty and staff should visit the MetLife Web site or call the toll-free number to establish beneficiaries and purchase optional life coverage for themselves or dependents, if desired.
Employees who experience qualifying events (marriage, divorce, birth, adoption, etc.) during the year should visit the MetLife Web site or call the toll-free number to request changes in coverage.
Life insurance details and MetLife contact information may be found on the Human Resources Web site (select “Employee Benefits”), www.hr.uga.edu/.
Additionally, since the transition to MetLife as a life insurance provider, employees who previously signed up for life insurance with UGA should update their beneficiary information with MetLife by April 1, in order for MetLife to legally become the custodian of record for life insurance coverage and beneficiary designation.
