This fall, the Office of Institutional Diversity will recognize outstanding accomplishments of individuals, groups and teams who contribute to inclusion and diversity. Nominations for the inaugural Embracing Diversity Awards are due Aug. 27.
Awards of up to $250 to further support initiatives in the 2008-09 academic year will be granted, with one award given in each of the following categories: faculty, staff, student groups and departments/units.
The award will recognize diversity contributions that go beyond the nominee’s assigned duties. Up to four recipients of the awards, limited to one person per unit or department, will be announced at the Diversity Days kick-off on Sept. 8.
Nominations can be made by any UGA employee who is familiar with the nominee’s commitment to diversity.
Special attention should be given to recognize efforts that have the potential to be sustained over time or can be replicated in comparable situations.
