University Housing recently was recognized by InterfaceFLOR, the world’s largest modular carpet manufacturer, for the diversion of 47,500 pounds of carpet from the landfill for recycling, down-cycling or re-purposing through participation in the InterfaceFLOR ReEntry Carpet Reclamation Program.
University Housing also was commended for installation of 11,134 square yards of Cool Carpet, a green product that eliminated 177 tons of certified carbon dioxide credits from the entire production life cycle by using renewable energy and materials. This carpet was installed in East Campus Village’s McWhorter Hall last summer as part of a regularly-scheduled program of maintenance and replacement.
