Dawgtoberfest health fair
The College of Pharmacy is celebrating American Pharmacists Month with the sixth annual “Dawgtoberfest: Rx for Good Health” on Oct. 15 from noon-3 p.m. at Herty Field.
Free flu shots will be given to the first 300 UGA students, faculty and staff presenting their UGA ID. Free body fat analysis, diabetes assessments and blood pressure checks also will be available.
Student health groups will provide information on hypertension, asthma, breast cancer, diabetes, fad diets, immunizations, sexually transmitted diseases, women’s health topics, pediatric health topics and heartburn.
Observatory viewings
Thanks to donors’ generosity, the 24-inch telescope in the UGA Observatory has been repaired and will be operational for monthly viewing sessions that are open free to the public. All sessions take place at the physics building.
The schedule through April is: 8 p.m. Oct. 16; 7 p.m. Nov. 13, Dec. 12 and Jan. 16; 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20; 8 p.m. March 20, and 9 p.m. April 17.
Employment verification service
UGA has recently contracted with The Work Number® to provide proof of UGA employment or income information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A secure, automated service, The Work Number® allows a bank, car dealer or other verifier, to call a phone number or visit a Web site to verify employment or income.
Human Resources will further communicate with the campus community in the coming weeks, as the proposed November implementation approaches. In addition, The Work Number staff will contact area lending institutions, credit companies, car dealers and other companies to provide instructions on accessing proof of employment or income regarding UGA faculty and staff.
