Work by College of Family and Consumer Sciences faculty members Joseph Goetz, Jerry Gale and Maria Bermudez on relational family therapy was referenced in a New York Times article about financial troubles that can crop up during a marriage.
Speaking about couples having to take care of elderly relatives, Gale said: “Many couples find themselves in these situations ethically where they feel like they have to do something (to help a family member financially). But if I do that, what is the cost to my own family?”
