UGA President Michael F. Adams appointed Frank Crumley, executive associate athletic director for finance and administration, to serve as interim director of athletics to fill the position left vacant after Damon Evans resigned July 4. Evans’ resignation followed a DUI arrest in Atlanta June 30.
Crumley has been with UGA since 1991. Currently, he is responsible for day-to-day operations, budget planning and reporting, contracts and information technology.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science in 1987 and a master’s degree in sports administration in 1990, both from UGA.
Adams also announced the members of a search committee to help choose the next athletics director during a regular monthly media briefing July 6.
The search committee is chaired by David Shipley, Thomas R.R. Cobb Professor of Law and faculty athletic representative. Other members of the committee include Swann Seiler, a member of the executive board of the athletic association and a trustee of the Arch Foundation; Jack Bauerle, UGA’s head swimming coach; Tom Landrum, senior vice president for external affairs; Carla Williams, senior associate athletic director; and Robert “Trey” Sinyard, a Foundation Fellow and member of the cross country team, as a student representative.
