The University of Georgia ranked ninth nationally in its number of graduating seniors who are pursuing teaching positions with Teach For America’s 2010 teaching corps, the organization reported recently.
Forty-eight UGA graduates will join more than 4,500 other new Teach for America members this fall to begin their two-year commitments to teaching in low-income schools throughout the country. They were selected out of more than 46,000 applications.
In 2008, UGA ranked fourth nationally on the list, the first year the organization produced the totals. According to the organization, approximately 5 percent of UGA graduates applied for places in TFA.
