CCRC to host international two-day symposium on glycan action in disease

On March 14-15, a group of international scientists, including 32 speakers and session chairs, will convene at UGA’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center to discuss the role of protein-carbohydrate interactions in biologically important processes that range from neural development to pathogen invasion.

The discussion will include the use of new technology to monitor and combat physiologically destructive processes.

Professor Ajit Varki, of the University of California, San Diego, will speak on “Perspectives on the Future of Glycobiology” March 14 at 6:15 p.m. in the Chapel. The lecture is free and open to the UGA community independent of participation in the symposium and workshop.

Those interested in participating in the full symposium and workshop should register by Feb. 28 at www.ccrc.uga.edu/symposium/.
