“If the Shoes Fits,” a shoe recycling program with drop-off bins in the lobby of the Ramsey Student Center, is accepting donated shoes. The program will take new or used but still good shoes in all sizes and kinds—except sandals, flip-flops or Crocs-type footwear.
Begun in 2008, this program, based out of the department of recreational sports, takes new or used but still good shoes and places them back into the greater Athens-Clarke County community. Through the years, the program has donated shoes to the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, Project Safe and Action Ministries. This year the program has already donated 1,000 pairs and is trying to donate 2,000 pairs.
