Designated Dawgs, a student-run, nonprofit organization at UGA, will host the annual Safe Ride Program United conference Feb. 1-3.
SRPU is a centralized coalition of similar safe-ride programs from colleges and universities across the nation. Each year, a member program hosts the annual conference. Representatives from the following universities (and programs) will attend the 2013 conference in Athens: Western Michigan University (Drive Safe Kalamazoo), Texas A&M (Carpool), James Madison University (Safe Rides) and Stephen F. Austin State University (Driving Jacks). Representatives from Florida Gulf Coast University and Michigan State University, who are interested in starting safe ride programs, also will attend the conference.
The conference will provide learning and leadership opportunities for safe-ride programs across the country. Over the course of three days, participants will attend workshops focusing on operations and logistics, risk management, fundraising and outcome-directed thinking.
