UGA will participate in the Georgia Statewide Severe Weather Drill on Feb. 6 at approximately 9 a.m. In conjunction with the drill, the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness will conduct a test of the UGA Alert system. No all clear message will be sent after the test, so those participating in the drill can move to their shelter location when the test message is sent and then end the drill after accounting for personnel in individual buildings.
In case of inclement weather, the drill will be held on Feb. 8.
Departments unable to participate in the drill are asked to take a few moments at the beginning of a meeting to discuss where to go and what to do when a tornado warning is issued. Instructors are encouraged to take a few minutes at the beginning of class to discuss how the class would respond to a tornado warning and where they would go to seek shelter in their building.

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, which runs Feb. 4-8, OSEP also will host a presentation by Keith Stellman, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, on Feb. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 481 of the Tate Student Center. Stellman will discuss services provided by the National Weather Service, severe weather safety and patterns of severe weather.
