The University Chorus, UGA’s only “town-and-gown” choir, invites faculty and staff singers to join its ranks this year.
Under the leadership of Daniel Bara, director of choral activities at UGA, the 100-voice choir is comprised of undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff and Athens community members. It rehearses on Monday evenings and performs one to three public concerts each semester, often in collaboration with the UGA Symphony Orchestra. This semester’s repertoire includes a production of Bizet’s Carmen, the coronation scene from Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov and selections for the UGA Holiday Concert.
Interested singers should contact Bara at dbara@uga.edu to arrange a brief placement hearing prior to rehearsals. Placements will be conducted Aug. 12-16, and the first rehearsal will take place Aug. 19.
