The Huffington Post ran a story in its Arts and Culture section about the Catherine the Great art collection, which is currently on exhibit at the Georgia Museum of Art.
The story quotes Asen Kirin, curator of the exhibition,Exuberance of Meaning, and associate director of the Lamar Dodd School of Art, about the empress’ tastes in art.
“An intellectual at heart, Catherine the Great had an amazing talent for creating visual programs to express important ideas that conveyed her values,” Kirin told The Huffington Post. “The way Catherine was able to generate a complex, sophisticated program had to do with the knowledge she gained as an art collector and from books and carved stones, medals and coins.”
