Jo Anne Shatkin, an environmental health scientist and president of Vireo Advisors LLC, will deliver the 2017 J.G. Woodroof Lecture. Her talk, “Establishing the Safety of Novel Materials for Food Related Applications,” will be given March 30 at 12:30 p.m. in Mahler Hall of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
Shatkin is a recognized expert in environmental science and policy, human health risk assessment, emerging contaminants policy, and environmental aspects of nanotechnology. As president of Vireo Advisors, she works with entrepreneurs to guide responsible, safe and sustainable product development and commercialization.
The Woodroof Lecture is co-sponsored by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences food science and technology department, the UGA Food Science Club and the UGA chapter of Phi Tau Sigma.
