Alan Stewart, a professor in the College of Education, was quoted in a Washington Post article about a new study that reveals that our personalities are shaped by the climate in people grew up.
The study reveals that two people could have the same upbringing, but that the one who grew up in a warmer climate is more likely to be agreeable, open and emotionally stable.
“Does climate determine personality? I am not sure,” said Stewart, who is a faculty member in the education college’s counseling and human development services department and was not involved in the study. “But from my own research, I do know that weather and climate affect mood, and this may be reflected in some of the authors’ assessments.”
