Athens, Ga. – Volunteers are being sought for two University of Georgia studies focused on evaluating the effects of infant feeding on the body composition of infants and their mothers.
The first study is focused on pregnant women in their third trimester who have either type two or gestational diabetes. Participants will come to the Maternal and Child Nutrition Research Laboratory in Dawson Hall on the UGA campus for interviews and body composition measurements at 36 weeks gestation (for the mother) and at two weeks and one month after delivery of their baby (for both mother and infant). Volunteers who complete all three visits will be compensated with at least $50. Plus, both the mother and baby will have their body composition measured with state-of-the-art equipment. Interviews and body composition measurements during each visit are expected to take an hour or less.
For the second study, mothers with infants three months or younger are being sought. Both mothers who are breastfeeding and those who are formula feeding are needed for this study. Mothers and their infants will visit the lab one time for measurements and will receive $50 as compensation.
For both studies, the mothers should be 18 years or older. Free parking is available on campus for all participants.
