Athens, Ga. – A group of University of Georgia incoming freshmen have been awarded the One UGA Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Because UGA recognizes the value of a broadly diverse educational environment for all students, the One UGA Scholarship is provided to academically outstanding incoming students who will contribute to the diversity of the freshmen class. Preference is given to those who are first in their families to attend college.
The award provides $1,500 per year in addition to the HOPE Scholarship to Georgia high school graduates. Out-of-state recipients can use a Regents Waiver that covers the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition.
The scholarship can be renewed for an additional three years of undergraduate study if the recipients maintain certain academic standards.
