Media advisory: UGA president to visit SBDC-assisted business, speak to Albany Rotary Club

Athens, Ga. – University of Georgia President Jere W. Morehead will be in Albany on Thursday, Sept. 24, for an overview of the university’s role in economic development in Dougherty County through the work of the UGA Small Business Development Center.

He will visit Innovative Senior Solutions, a home health care provider for seniors and individuals with disabilities that recently expanded into Albany as its third location in South Georgia. This small business, founded in Sumter County by two sisters in 2007, has grown into a company that now employs more than 100 people. Services provided in the 19-county region include personal care, adult day care and two personal care homes.

The SBDC office in Albany provided consulting services to the company to develop financial, marketing and operations strategies for growth. Owners also graduated from GrowSmart, an SBDC program that assists fast-growing small businesses.

Following his visit to Innovative Senior Solutions, Morehead will attend the Albany Rotary Club, where he will address the group.
