Allan Armitage, a horticulture professor, received the Liberty Hyde Bailey Award from the American Horticulture Society.
The award is given to an individual who has made significant lifetime contributions to horticultural fields in teaching, research, communications, plant exploration, administration, art, business and leadership.
The award will be presented June 7 during the Great American Gardeners Awards Ceremony and Banquet at River Farm, the society’s headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
