Author Carrie Olivia Adams, a UGA alumna, will read from her work March 25 at 4 p.m. in Room 265 of Park Hall. The event, sponsored by Regents Professor of English Judith Ortiz Cofer and UGA’s department of English, is free and open to the public.
Adams is the author of the poetry collection, Intervening Absence (Ahsahta, 2009) and the chapbook A Useless Window. Her poems and criticism have appeared in DIAGRAM, Cranky, Lilies and Cannonballs, No Tell Motel, Backwards City Review and Verse.
A 2000 graduate of UGA with degrees in comparative literature and English, Adams now lives in Chicago where she works as a publicist for the University of Chicago Press. She also serves as poetry editor for Black Ocean, an independent publishing and production company. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Vermont College, where many of the poems in Intervening Absence were conceived.
