Dartmouth College announced it received a gift of $100 million, the largest single donation in the college’s 244-year history, this month. The anonymous gift included a 2-to-1 challenge to double the investment to $200 million if other donors give an additional $100-million to the college by the end of 2015.
According to a Dartmouth news release, the money will go toward the university’s Cluster Initiative to create 30 to 40 endowed faculty positions over the next decade.
In February, billionaire Kenneth C. Griffin donated $150 million to his alma mater Harvard University.
