Yukiko Hashida, assistant professor in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ agricultural and applied economics department, and David Lewis, area director of the Brunswick office of the UGA Small Business Development Center, recently won the Ralph C. d’Arge and Allen V. Kneese Award for Outstanding Publication in the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists from the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists for their paper, “The Intersection between Climate Adaptation, Mitigation, and Natural Resources: An Empirical Analysis of Forest Management.”
“The committee especially appreciated the ability of the spatially refined, place-based nature of this work—which focuses on the forestry sector in the U.S. Pacific Northwest—to produce more credible lessons on the challenge of designing climate policy in the real world, providing anticipatory insight into how changes in environmental stressors may interact with policy to alter human behavior and biophysical systems,” according to the award selection committee, which included experts from the University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia and Duke University.
