Associate deans sought

The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences is accepting applications until Aug. 9 for an associate dean for international and multidisciplinary programs and an associate dean for research and graduate education.

The associate dean for international and multidisciplinary programs is the primary liaison between the dean’s office and departments within one or more of the divisions of the college as well as the Office of International Education. Job responsibilities also include overseeing college-level international and interdisciplinary programs including facilitating the development of new programs. This associate dean will conduct interviews with prospective faculty members, evaluate requests for leaves, review graduate faculty applications and facilitate special projects for the college.

The associate dean for research and graduate education will oversee issues concerned with research and graduate education and will serve as liaison to the Graduate School and the Office of the Vice President for Research. Other duties include oversight of start-up, space and renovations. The associate dean will actively facilitate external funding of research, with a special focus on identifying and coordinating opportunities for funded interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects within the college and across campus units. This associate dean also will conduct interviews with prospective faculty members, evaluate requests for leave and review graduate faculty applications.
