- J. Marshall Shepherd, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor and director of UGA’s Atmospheric Sciences Program, has been named chairman of NASA’s Earth Science Advisory Committee. The scope of the committee includes the advancement of scientific knowledge of the Earth through space-based observation and the pioneering use of these observations in conjunction with process studies, data assimilation and modeling.
