Bill restricts political science funds, reinstates military tuition assistance

A temporary spending bill signed by President Barack Obama in March reinstates military tuition assistance, while limiting National Science Foundation funding for political science research.

Military tuition assistance was suspended by the Army and Marines due to automatic budget cuts mandated by federal legislation.

An amendment in the bill also prohibits the NSF from political science research spending unless the project is “promoting national security or the economic interests of the United States.”
