Blue Key awards banquet recognizes 2025 award recipients, initiates

Awards and initiates were recognized at the annual Tucker Dorsey Blue Key Alumni Banquet 

Awards and initiates were recognized at the university’s annual Tucker Dorsey Blue Key Alumni Banquet on Nov. 21 at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel.  

The 2025 Blue Key Service Award was presented to Betsy Cox, president of the Terry Family Foundation and shareholder with the law firm Rogers Towers, Pennsylvania, where she has worked for more than 37 years; Dexter Fisher, District 5 commissioner and mayor pro-tem in Athens-Clarke County; and Howard Young, president of General Wholesale Beer Company and partner in General Wholesale Company.

Charles Davis was awarded the 2025 faculty Blue Key Service Award. Davis has served as the dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication since 2013. 

The 2025 Blue Key Young Alumnus award was presented to Dr. Cole Phillips, CEO and medical director at Mercy Health Center in Athens.

The AT&T Student Leadership Award was presented to Sanjana Gattineni and Verner D. (Trey) Wilson III. Gattineni is majoring in microbiology and applied biotechnology. Wilson is majoring in finance and management information systems.  

The Tucker Dorsey Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Delaney Lockwood and Kendall Clay. Lockwood is pursuing an M.D. through the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and completed a Master of Public Health in December 2024. Clay is a Ph.D. student in neuroscience.  

The Richard B. Russell Student Leadership Award was given to Rayna Carter and Hunter Johnson. Carter is a fourth-year student studying psychology, sociology and women’s studies in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. Johnson is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. 

The 70 Blue Key initiates for 2025-2026 also were recognized during the banquet.  

The Blue Key Honor Society is a national organization whose members are committed to leadership in student life, high scholastic achievement, service to others and citizenship. Established in 1924 at the University of Florida, the organization’s third chapter was established at the University of Georgia in 1926 and is the oldest active chapter.
