The University of Georgia Press and the Friends of WUGA will sell deeply discounted books and CDs during the jointly sponsored Book and CD Supersale Oct. 5 and 6 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Tate Student Center Plaza. Proceeds will benefit WUGA and UGA Press.
The book sale-held by UGA Press every two years-features slightly damaged or shopworn books from its Athens warehouse. Books in a range of subjects including nature writing, poetry, fiction, literary criticism and history will be available, as well as general interest titles about Georgia and the South. Select new books also will be on sale.
WUGA first partnered in the sale in 2004 due to the strong connection between its listeners and the press’ customers. During the Supersale, for every three CDs, DVDs, or audio books shoppers purchase, they can choose a free disc from a box of special items while supplies last.
“The funds raised through this CD Supersale literally help us keep the station operations going,” said Steve Bell, general manager of WUGA. “All of our operational funds must come from private sources such as donations from listeners and from underwriting sales. The proceeds from the sale help us continue the broadcasting excellence that has been a hallmark of WUGA for the past 19 years. We hope our friends and supporters will take this opportunity to show their support for the station and its award-winning staff.”
