Brian Hopkinson, an assistant professor of marine sciences in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, received $307,378 from the National Science Foundation to study inorganic carbon processing in corals. The project will improve understanding-and predictions-about the longer-term effects of ocean acidification on corals and coral reefs. Co-principal investigators are Christof Meile, an associate professor of marine sciences, and William Fitt, a professor in the Odum School of Ecology.
