Chicago State rescinds gag order

After two weeks of implementation, Chicago State University has withdrawn a controversial policy requiring that faculty and staff members receive official approval before conducting interviews with journalists or making certain communications on social media outlets, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The policy, which forbade employees from writing opinion pieces, speaking with members of the news media and more, was rescinded in a university-wide email that said the policy “had not received proper review and approval through legal counsel prior to being distributed.”
