Cole Swensen, widely published poet and translator, will read from her work in 265 Park Hall on Feb. 7 at 4:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Lanier Speakers Series and is open to the public.
Swensen is on the faculty of the Iowa Writers Workshop at the University of Iowa. In 2006, she was a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship. She received her B.A. and M.A. from San Francisco State University and a Ph. D. in comparative literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her books include The Book of a Hundred Hands (2006), Goest (2004); Such Rich Hour (2001); Oh (2000); Try (1999), which won the Iowa Poetry Prize; Noon (1997), recipient of the New American Poetry Series Award; Numen (1995); Park (1991); and New Math (1988), winner of the National Poetry Series competition.
