Users of the Sony Reader, an electronic book-reading device, can now check out digital books from some college and public libraries, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
Approximately 100 academic libraries have begun offering the service, which is also available at about 9,000 public libraries. Sony Reader users will have the option of downloading the e-books, which will then be automatically removed from the device once the loan period ends.
So far about 100,000 books are available through the service, offered by OverDrive Inc.
