Emory University has named the Dalai Lama a Presidential Distinguished Professor, according to a press release from the university.
As a part of his new professorship, the Dalai Lama will speak periodically and continue to teach students and faculty who travel to Dharamsala, India, as a part of an Emory study-abroad program.
His appointment stems from the Emory-Tibet Partnership, which began in 1998 as a way to combine Western and Tibetan Buddhist intellectual traditions.
