The department of dance will present Community Dance Day Celebration, an afternoon of events to share the art of dance with the Athens community, on Oct. 9 in the Dance Building.
Concurrent classes for children and adults will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the dance studios and include beginning ballroom dance (ages 12-adult), creative movement (ages 4-10) and an informal discussion on the technical/production aspects of dance performance. An outdoor reception will be held from 2:15-3 p.m. An approximate hour-long, family-oriented performance will follow at 3 p.m. and feature the CORE Concert Dance Company, the UGA Ballet Ensemble, the Ballroom Performance Group and community guest performers from the East Athens Dance Center and Classic City Dance.
Parking will be available in the South Parking Deck. While the event is free, space is limited. It is recommended that tickets for the performance be reserved through the Tate Center box office at 706-542-8579.
