Dance marathon raises $3.5 million

The IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon held at Pennsylvania State University continues to be the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, this year raising more than $3.5 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Hershey Medical Center, which helps pay for treatment and related expenses for families of children with cancer. The Penn State dance marathon, nicknamed “Thon,” is a 48-hour event held in late February; more than $29 million has been raised since 1977. The UGA dance marathon raised nearly $215,000 this year, for a running total of more than $1 million since 1996.
