David P. Landau, Distinguished Research Professor of Physics and director of the Center for Simulational Physics, presented an invited keynote lecture at the Ninth International Symposium on Mathematical and Computational Biology in Brasilia, Brazil, in August.
The title of his presentation was “Monte Carlo Simulations of Protein Models: At the Interface Between Statistical Physics and Biology.” The research that he described involved a collaboration between the Center for Simulational Physics and the Institute of Bioinformatics at UGA. Following this meeting, Landau also presented the university-wide ICEX Lecture, “Exploring New Frontiers in Science with Computer Simulations,” at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
