The Office of Global Engagement announces a new UGA Study Away Passport Initiative. The initiative provides funding to cover the cost of purchasing a passport from UGA Tate Passport Services in the amount of up to $150.
The Office of Global Engagement aspires for all students to participate in a global learning experience and hopes this initiative will encourage students to obtain a passport, which is a necessary and often expensive document for traveling overseas.
“Although international travel is limited at this time, the Study Away Passport Initiative allows eligible students to get passports and be prepared to engage with the world once travel becomes possible,” said Yana Cornish, director of global education at the Office of Global Engagement. “This initiative is a UGA’s long-term investment in our students and helping them become global citizens. I encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Any UGA undergraduate student who has never obtained an adult passport (or their last passport was issued prior to the age of 16), can apply.
As funds are limited and the initial deadline is April 14, all interested students are encouraged to apply here: UGA Study Away Passport Initiative.
