Seth Wenger, Craig Osenberg and Greg Jacobs received $43,000 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to evaluate the rehabilitation of lake sturgeon in the Niagara River.
The team will use lake sturgeon population-assessment data collected over the past five years to develop population dynamics models that can be used to estimate variation in lake sturgeon occurrence across time and space based on population growth scenarios, in collaboration with biologists at the FWS Northeast Fishery Center.
Osenberg is a professor at the Odum School of Ecology, Wenger is an assistant professor at the ecology school, and Jacobs is a doctoral student there.
