Elizabeth L. Andress, professor and food safety specialist with the Cooperative Extension, received the National Award for Excellence in Extension. The award was given by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities Board on Agriculture Assembly.
Andress creates hands-on educational programs and resources on home food preservation with the intent to lower the risk of foodborne illness, enhance food quality and improve confidence in the safety of the nation’s food supply. She coordinates statewide delivery of food handler certification programs and supports consumer food safety educational programs and 4-H project work.
