Emory Thomas, Regents Professor of History emeritus, received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Sewanee: The University of the South during its annual Founders’ Day Convocation on Oct. 12.
Approximately 300 guests attended the ceremony, which included the original exhortation from the 1860 event.
