Horace Newcomb, UGA journalism professor and director of the Peabody Awards, is quoted in national news coverage on the death of ABC-TV news anchor Peter Jennings. In the Tampa Tribune, he says, “I don’t think that we will see anyone like them [iconic network anchors] again because the medium has changed and there can no longer be three central spokesmen for an entire society.” Jennings was associated with five Peabody Award-winning news programs.
