According to The Times of London, applications to British universities are up 8 percent; meaning 42,000 more high school students and others have chosen to go to college instead of diving into the weak job market.
The newspaper reported that applications from prospective students older than 24 contributed to the increase, rising 12.6 percent although financial aid for adults seeking retraining has been scaled back.
