Athens, Ga. – Individuals and organizations throughout the state are encouraged to submit nominations now for the 2007 Georgia Excellence in Public Service Awards. This is the fourth year for the statewide awards program, which is a public-private partnership between the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government and GeorgiaTrend magazine.
Outstanding public service contributions are recognized in five categories of officials (state/regional, county elected, county appointed, city elected, city appointed). Winners are selected from a pool of nominations submitted by other officials or citizens at large. While publicly honoring currently serving outstanding officials, the Excellence awards also help raise the profile of state and local public service as a career pursuit.
Complete nomination applications are due at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government no later than April 15, with the winners announced and profiled in the September issue of GeorgiaTrend magazine.
