The exam was part of an overall physical for the tiger, which was treated at the large animal hospital for a bone infection. Sierra is one of four tigers in a traveling in the educational exhibit, “The Tiger and Elephant Encounter,” owned by Terry Frisco of Peoria, Ill. The exhibit was in Augusta late last month when Sierra required medical treatment. He was referred to Stephen Hernandez-Divers, exotics medicine specialist in the veterinary medicine college, by Sierra’s regular veterinarian in Illinois.
