Faculty, staff and retirees contribute to support the University of Georgia

Current and retired faculty and staff make a difference on campus every day. They see firsthand how much the university’s important work depends on private support.

Visiting give.uga.edu/paws allows faculty and staff donors to find a cause that has particular meaning to them. Those currently employed can easily set up recurring payments via payroll deductions, if interested. Others, including retired faculty and staff, can make one-time donations via credit card. All faculty, staff and retiree donors are recognized in UGA’s Philanthropy at Work Society.

In March, faculty, staff and retirees are receiving mailers that encourage them to take part in this year’s campaign. PAWS members, who have already generously supported UGA’s mission this year, get a thank you mailer. Both groups are gifted with fun UGA-themed stickers they can use to show their Bulldog pride.

The campaign runs through the end of the fiscal year. There are plans for friendly competitions in the future to see which school, college or unit can successfully encourage the greatest percentage of participation in a future campaign.

When asked why he donates to UGA, Derek Hammock, director of business operations for the University of Georgia Athletic Association, said, “The University of Georgia has been central to my growth and development: as an inspiration growing up, challenge and opportunity as a student, resource and network as an alumnus, and now a career as an employee. I give back because I believe in the work we do here and know firsthand the impact it makes on students.”

Faculty, staff and retirees give their all to UGA. It is a testament to their dedication that so many go above and beyond by contributing to help create brighter tomorrows.
