Fausto O. Sarmiento, director of the Office of International Education and assistant professor in the School of Environmental Design has been named Deputy Vice-Chair for Mountains-Capacity Building for the World Commission of Protected Areas. Sarmiento will catalyze efforts of training managers and researchers of mountain protected areas around the world with regional workshops dealing with conservation corridors (Ecuador 2006), transboundary conservation (Nepal 2007) and ecotourism (China 2008).
